KOOLAIR PVT LIMITED, established in Colombo, Sri Lanka in 1980, provides comprehensive sales, service and spare parts to the refrigeration, air conditioning and power generating markets.
In 1982, shortly after the Company’s inception, Koolair set out to become leading player Sri Lanka’s industrial refrigeration and power generation markets. A new Factory and Workshop were built to satisfy customer demand for assembly, repair, service and testing of Generators and the Company’s workforce grew quickly thereafter. What started out as a small Company employing 12 employees has grown to a workforce today of over 150 employees.
Today Koolair continues to prosper through innovative Power Generation solutions. In the year 1996, it was the first Private Sector Company to have signed a Power Purchase Agreement with the Ceylon Electricity Board to supply power to the National Grid. This was followed with the setting up of two Power Plants equipped with diesel Generators of capacity 8 & 10MW in the suburbs of Colombo. Thereafter in the year 1998, Koolair was again the first Private Sector Company to have proceeded to the war torn north which was in darkness fro nearly seven years as a result of the war and set up two 20MW power plants.
