Koolair Limited was established in the year 1980 with its head office, showroom and workshop in Nugegoda, a suburban town located about 10 kilometres from the capital city of Colombo Sri Lanka.

With time the showroom and office was moved to Colombo while the workshop remained. As the company expanded the need for more space saw the workshop relocated in a larger building on a property that the company bought for the purpose in 1990. In 2011 realizing that better coordination was needed between the office and the workshop the operation was brought under one roof in abuilding which was large enough to house both operations located off Balapokuna Road Kiralapone.

The group work force which was a mere 12 employees when the company began in 1980 today comprises of 116 employees.
